Today, I totally muffed a launch where I flopped into the water … before there was water there to flop into. I wasn’t moving my feet fast enough and fell completely on my face in the sand. The line of watching instructors guffawed and I heard a “nice kite control” waft in my direction. While its true my kite never wavered nor drifted in the dreaded Kite Eating Tree’s direction, it was the perfect retort. Tone, timing, and execution were perfect. While muttering obscenities to myself as I sorted out my predicament I, of course, reflected that I probably would have said exactly the same thing if positions were reversed.
